Do you want to help change people’s lives? If you said “yes” to these questions – we have the opportunity for you. We are a consumer bankruptcy firm run by husband-and-wife lawyers. We’re looking to add an associate to our team so that we can grow our practice while giving us the freedom to enjoy some family time together. You don’t need to have bankruptcy law experience, and we will consider new graduates as well – as long as you’re willing to learn. People who enjoy bankruptcy law are usually:

• Detail oriented (good at spotting issues and getting all the little details right)
• Comfortable reading statues (did you like classes like Civ Pro, Tax, or Secured Transactions?)
• Extroverted people who enjoy talking to clients
• Looking to dig in and become an expert in a practice area
• Happiest when helping people

Responsibilities:

• Meeting with clients
• Drafting petitions for Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies for consumers
• Appearing in court and before the court-appointed bankruptcy trustees
• Drafting motions and responses to motions
• Drafting letters and emails to clients, creditors, and other attorneys
• Managing cases to help clients get their bankruptcy discharge

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
• Admitted to the Maryland Bar (or eligible for admission)
• Admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Maryland (or eligible for admission)
• Ability to work in person at our office in Towson, Maryland
• Good technology skills (we use a lot of software like Microsoft Office, BestCase bankruptcy software, PACER, and a custom CRM system)
